19 Reasons Why Medium Outshines Instagram for Client Engagement

The social media giant may not be beneficial for your consulting or coaching business.

The truth is that for over three years, the majority of my clients discovered me through Medium—rather than Google, Instagram, or Facebook. They sought insights and support, and my articles guided them to connect with me.

When I say "most," I refer to approximately 98% of my clientele originating from Medium. This platform serves as an exceptional resource for individuals seeking profound knowledge and healing experiences.

While receiving monthly payouts ranging from $50 to over $150 from my Medium contributions was nice, it pales in comparison to what many writers earn. Writing is not my primary business; my focus is on assisting others in healing chronic conditions and aiding their spiritual growth towards fulfilling their life purpose.

Writing is significant in my work, but it is not my sole identity. If I were a full-time writer, I might have chosen to maintain monetization, but my life's purpose extends beyond mere writing.

It serves as a gateway to broader experiences—if individuals are ready to embrace them.

I have come to recognize that my writing is a potent tool to assist the collective of awakening empaths. It allows me to share messages, channel insights, personal narratives, and teachings that encompass spirituality, healing, cosmic energies, and astrology, with even more to unfold in the future.

By removing my articles from behind the paywall, I am making them accessible to anyone drawn to my insights. This accessibility is more meaningful to me than the minimal financial gain, which—unless my articles reach thousands—remains insignificant. It makes more sense to share my work openly.

Ultimately, my goal is to broaden the readership of my articles.

And it's working!

Although my monthly earnings have dropped, my readership has significantly increased. More individuals are engaging with both my new and existing articles.

Below, you can see the growth in my views and reads from December 2020 to December 2023. The numbers reveal not only an uptick in views but also a higher conversion rate to reads since I stopped monetizing my new articles in September.

In December 2023, the total views decreased, primarily due to fewer articles published compared to December 2022; however, the percentage of views converting to reads has risen remarkably now that my articles are no longer paywalled.

No longer hindered by financial barriers, I have chosen to prioritize inclusivity and accessibility, aligning with my spiritual journey and mission of providing clarity and support to awakening empaths.

Beyond my articles, I reach out freely through various platforms:
